Ophthalmology and Eye Surgery in Marrakech

Dr Soukaina Tanout examines, treats and performs eye surgery on children and adults in Mhamid.

Good vision does not necessarily mean your eyes are healthy. A consultation measures your vision, checks the health of your eyes, then explains the result.

From the cornea to the optic nerve

Select a part of the eye to discover the conditions that can affect it and the treatments offered by the practice.

Blurred vision, whether at a distance or up close

The cornea, the transparent front surface of the eye, plays an essential role in focusing. Its shape can contribute to short-sightedness, astigmatism or keratoconus.

  • Keratoconus
  • Contact lenses
  • Corneal topography

When an operation becomes useful

It is only offered after the examination, once the result is explained and the options discussed.

  • Cataract

The cloudy lens is replaced with an artificial lens implant to help restore clearer vision.

  • Refractive surgery

Laser surgery can correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism, provided your cornea is suitable.

  • Strabismus

Surgery can help realign the eyes when glasses alone are not sufficient.

  • Tear ducts

It restores tear drainage when the tear ducts are blocked, causing excessive watering of the eye.

  • Eyelids

It corrects an incorrectly positioned eyelid that obstructs vision or irritates the eye.

Your consultation, step by step

  1. You tell us

What is bothering you, when it started, and your personal and family medical history.

  2. We measure your vision

Each eye is tested separately, for distance and near vision, with and without corrective lenses.

  3. The doctor examines your eyes

Using a slit lamp, with intraocular pressure measurement if necessary.

  4. A retinal examination, if necessary

Eye drops may be used to dilate your pupils. Your vision may remain blurred and your eyes sensitive to light for several hours. Please come with someone and do not drive.

  5. You leave with answers

The result explained simply, a prescription if needed and the date of your next check-up.
